Nesting Ahead of Baby #2

The countdown is on and nesting ahead of baby #2 has officially begun. I have a half a dozen lists with tasks, ideas, to-dos, and things to take care of before his arrival! It’s strange how much less we’ve thought about and prepared for this birth than we did with Kennedy… second child problems?! I find myself wrapped up in the day taking care of a wild and crazy toddler and when nighttime comes, I get a rush of thoughts about how much more needs to be done to get ready for another baby to enter our family. It’s safe to say I’m in full on nesting mode!

Truth be told, after doing this one time now, we feel much more prepared and relaxed about a lot of things that probably kept our minds busier when I was pregnant with Kennedy. That being said, we are still needing to accomplish some things around the house to be totally ready for his arrival.

Today I want to share a few tasks I’m working on in the midst of nesting ahead of baby, as well as a handful of items we registered for. I put together a small registry this time around for a couple sprinkles our families are throwing us. Overall, we are pretty well set with lots of baby items, but since this baby is a boy, we obviously needed some new things like boy clothes for instance ha!

Aside from a handful of things we wanted to replace or get more gender neutral versions of, we really just need diapers and some clothes for this little guy. I’m working on getting his room put together little by little and will share some of that inspiration today, too.

TO DO BEFORE BABY’S ARRIVAL ::

• Set up changing stations around the house (putting a changing table in our master for nighttime changes as well as setting up supplies on our main floor)
• Set up postpartum essential baskets for myself in our master bath and main floor bath
• Finish the nursery (!!!)
• Wash and put away all new baby clothes
• Pack hospital bags for me, Michael, and baby
• Pack bag for Kennedy
• Install infant car seat back into our cars
• Get gifts to/from Kennedy from/to baby brother

If you’re a mama of more than one kiddo, I’d love to hear any advice you have about that transition. What to expect, how we can best serve Kennedy, any fun traditions you have, etc. I’ll just be over here nesting like crazy with ALL the emotions…
