First Rodeo Themed Party
All the details on my daughter’s first rodeo themed party, which turned out to be such a hit!
It all started with the idea of playing off of the saying “this ain’t my first rodeo”. The party invitations read “this actually is my first rodeo” and the theme for her first birthday party was born. Western decor, cowgirl boots, lots of fresh flowers, and a delicious cake were had!
Rodeo Themed Party Ideas
I’ll say that I didn’t go OVERBOARD with the rodeo theme because first of all, she’s one and didn’t even know what was happening. But two, I wanted to keep it fairly simple while remaining sweet, feminine, and girly.
I didn’t want everything to be red and white gingham, so instead, I chose a color palette of soft pinks, blues, and mint. I added little touches of rodeo with some boot decor, hay bales, a diy fabric garland and a good old Tex-Mex menu.
Simple DIY Rodeo Party Projects
- High chair banner
- Fabric garland
- Welcome chalkboard art
- Easy cake topper
- Invitations
- Wood pallet picture display
Fabric Garland
Using scrap fabric from a local fabric store, you can cut into triangles and glue to twine or string. These fabric garlands can be used on your mantle, along cabinets, and many other places.
Choosing a color scheme for your party is a helpful way to help guide these types of projects. I found pink and mint scrap fabric squares that turned out to be perfect for our first rodeo party.
DIY Cake Topper Banner
This cake topper was made using burlap, large stickers, and wooden skewers. One of the best ways to save money for any party is to get a very simple, plain cake and decorate it yourself with a fun topper.
My personal favorite is the vanilla cake from Whole Foods Market. I order it with no decorations or piping. We get compliments and questions any time we serve it!
High Chair Banner
A high chair banner for a first birthday is such a simple but fun touch. It really makes for some extra cute pictures while doing the cake smash.
Take a piece of twine or string and measure along your high chair to find the right length. Then you can use anything from scrap fabric strips to ribbon and tie on to the twine. Attach to the high chair using command hooks or strong tape.
