Trying Out CycleBar

For those of you who don't know, I'm a Pure Barre instructor and therefore, I love trying all sorts of new fitness classes and techniques! I was recently contacted by CycleBar to come try out a class and immediately jumped at the opportunity!

CycleBar is a premium indoor cycling experience that uses a mix of lights and music to drive you through a super intense class led by your CycleStar instructor. The facilities are super clean and bright and offer some really nice amenities like free water bottles and snacks, lockers, showers, and complimentary shoes. I was SO impressed by how nice the entire studio was and all the goodies that were available to riders.

I showed up on a Friday evening for a "happy hour" ride with Joanna and was helped upon arrival by Ally and the owner of CycleBar Chesterfield, Dave. They both made sure I got a great tour of the studio and provided me with shoes, a water bottle, and even helped me clip into the bike (first-timer probs)!

I got settled into the studio, which is equipped with stadium style seating and large TV screens (that periodically show your stats during class), and started warming up just as Joanna came in and started greeting each rider personally.

Once it was time for class to begin, the lights came down and the music went up, really allowing us to feel the beat of the music and ride along the entire time. As someone who is very in-tune with music, this was my favorite aspect of class. Joanna used her own playlist to guide us up and down throughout a very intense 50 minute ride, complete with some weight work for the arms, sprints and even a couple of races!

To say I was exhausted at the end of class would be an understatement! It was an amazing workout and I left feeling so proud of how hard I pushed myself. As soon as we got out of class there were snacks and a variety of adult beverages to choose from as riders hung out post-class and enjoyed a drink together. I also received an email almost immediately recapping my class and stats of my ride.

As I talked to Dave, the owner, once more after class, he said they do a lot of themed rides and special events like that day's happy hour in order to encourage community and foster an environment for their clients to not only come and workout but to also hang out. I thought that was so awesome and could tell by the way people were in no rush to leave that evening that they had done just that!

If you haven't tried CycleBar yet, I would highly recommend it! If you are looking for a good workout, like fun music and don't mind a bit of competition, this workout would be perfect for you. I would also add that you shouldn't feel intimidated at all to try it out even if you've never cycled before, because everyone there is amazing and so helpful. I didn't feel nervous or "judged" for being new (and completely out of my element) one single time while I was there.

I cannot wait to get to another class and am hoping I can add this into my regular workout regimen as an awesome (and FUN) form of cardio! Thank you to CycleBar Chesterfield for having me. I'll be back soon to rock my next ride! ;)
