I've been dying to share this look with y'all and tell you about our [very brief] trip to MN, so today's the day! A couple of weeks ago I was able to tag along with Michael on a business trip to Minneapolis, which was a new city for me. Our trip was super short, so I'm no expert, but did want to share a few great spots we visited while there!
Mall of America. This sounds so cliche, I know, but seriously if you've never been, you must go. I had absolutely no idea what to expect but I was not disappointed. It's bigger than you imagine and there's basically a theme park in the middle, which was a huge surprise to me!
Walk around the Skyway in downtown Minneapolis. This is basically an interconnected system of enclosed footbridges that spans across 69 blocks in the downtown area. It can be super confusing and felt like a complete maze to me, but luckily Michael knew his way around pretty well. It was really neat to walk building to building this way but I can't even imagine how much more I would have appreciated it in the winter! ;)
Visit the adorable town of Excelsior, MN! My brother-in-law is from this picturesque town right on Lake Minnetonka and we were dying to see it for ourselves, so we hopped in the car and took the short 30 minute drive from downtown to hang here for an evening. With a small town feel, shops and great eateries, and of course, a lake view, this was my favorite pit stop of our trip!
SEVEN located in downtown Minneapolis. This steakhouse and sushi restaurant is in the heart of the Theater and Entertainment District and was walking distance from our hotel (The Hotel Minneapolis). Super yummy food with a really big and diverse menu!
I think we saw a Caribou Coffee on every corner, and while this was not my first time drinking the Minnesota-based coffee company, I did enjoy having my morning coffee here and posting up to work from my laptop while Michael was in meetings.
While in Excelsior, we had dinner on the lake at Maynards. Super fun, lake vibes here with a casual and yummy menu. Chicken fingers and waffle fries are what the locals recommend... we were not disappointed!
And finally, my brother-in-law insisted that we get frozen custard from Adele's in Excelsior, and again, we were not disappointed! If you know me, you know I'm an ice cream girl, and this was some of the best. The place itself is adorable and has that small town feel to it, but the custard was just as fabulous!
I saw this striped dress while browsing at Madewell and knew it would make the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe! It's about as easy as a dress comes, which is perfect for me, and if you haven't noticed yet, stripes are very in and also one of my favorite prints for this time of year.
I paired it with some fun sandals and a bright bag for a pop of color and was ready to go in no time. I absolutely love how easy this dress is and I've also noticed that it doesn't really wrinkle, which makes it awesome for traveling!
