5 Gifts That Give Back + Weekend Sales

I don't know about you, but I LOVE a gift that gives back! It makes me feel like my purchase is going towards something important and meaningful. At the same time, being the recipient of a gift that gives back makes me feel proud to wear or show it around and tell the story proudly. So, since I'm such a fan, I wanted to share 5 amazing companies with yall today that produce goods with incredible stories behind them.

Alex and Ani

Carolyn, the founder of Alex and Ani, founded her company on the idea that we all connect with signs and symbols, which can have significant meaning to us. They design beautiful (and simple) jewelry pieces and with their charity by design program, they partner with charities to give a portion back of sales. You can find all their charities and read more about how they partner with them here. I'm partial to the Living Water Charm Bangle, which helps provide clean water access to people across the world.

Love Your Melon

You've probably seen these beanies out and about, but what you may or may not know is the mission behind this incredibly cool company. Love Your Melon is dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer here in America as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who are fighting against pediatric cancer. What better cause could you possibly think of? And it doesn't hurt that these beanies (and scarves) are ADORABLE and absolutely perfect for winter!

Prosperity Candle

This next company supports refugees and artisans through candle making and uniquely crafted pieces that are easily repurposed. I am obsessed with candles and think they're a perfect small gift to give a girlfriend or a hostess. These candles are not only beautiful and come in the coolest containers of all different shapes, colors and patterns, but they're also sent in a chic gift box that truly makes Prosperity Candle gift ready this holiday season!

Sseko Designs

Sseko is a Ugandan-based fashion brand selling handbags, accessories, and leather sandals. The company supports sending young women to University in Uganda, while also employing and educating women in the local community. Sseko has a few other really neat partnerships here in the US and across Africa that you can read more about here. The founder of Sseko, Liz, is actually a St. Louis girl so I've know about this company and her amazing work for quite a while now and owned my first pair of Leather Ribbon Sandals years ago.

Love 41

This incredible Christian-based company gives to many causes such as funding schools, providing free daycares and after school programs for kiddos in Africa and Mexico, and more... They craft beautiful leather bags, jewelry pieces, accessories and home goods. I personally have this tote bag (in "Tobacco") and am in love with it. It's the perfect size for travel or carrying my laptop around and the leather is SO gorgeous in person!

As a bonus, the beautiful vest I'm wearing in these pictures is from a local St. Louis-based company, NALA. They work with refugees and immigrants in St. Louis and East Africa to help address social issues. I invite you to read more about their story, too!
